Family Promise teams up with PetSmart to launch PetSmart Promise
We all know that homeless families face a similar challenging situation: what to do with their beloved pets when they become homeless and seek out our assistance. Many families are forced to give up their four-legged family members during a time when they need them the most. Thanks to a new nationwide partnership, they will no longer be forced to make that heartbreaking decision. Family Promise and PetSmart have teamed up to launch PetSmart Promise. The program will work with Family Promise Day Centers around the country in a variety of ways, including building on-site dog and cat kennel facilities at existing Family Promise Day Centers throughout the country, providing for complimentary use of boarding space at existing PetSmart stores (PetsHotels), and the installation of complimentary fish tanks in Family Promise Day Centers.
PetSmart established a pilot program with Family Promise of Greater Phoenix in 2012, which has been a great success. With the expansion of the program nationwide this year, the goal is for five new facilities to open each year until all 182 Family Promise facilities have the opportunity to participate in the program at a level that is appropriate for them. We look forward to sharing more information with you on this exciting program as it develops further.

We still need host churches and would love to have the opportunity to present the ministry of Family Promise to other churches in our community. If you have a connection with a church, please call Lindsey at 770-535-0786. Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. Psalm 28:6-9 (NIV) |

Welcome to Family Promise of Hall County
Family Promise of Hall County is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless children and their families. Our mission is to help put an end to homelessness one family at a time. We do this through a network of congregations that host these families directly in their houses of worship, staffed by caring volunteers who have put their faith into action. We accepted our first homeless family on May 20, 2012. We use 4 basic components: Congregations: The hosting of families rotates weekly among a minimum of 13 host congregations. In turn, each congregation provides lodging, three meals, and hospitality 3-4 times a year. Support congregations do not host families but instead assist a host congregation when they host families. Click here to see a list of our congregations. Day Center Guests use a local day center from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, where a professional social worker provides case management services. There, guests pursue employment, tend pre-school children, shower, and do laundry. The day center provides guests with a mailing address and a base for housing and employment searches. Volunteers Volunteers come from host and support congregations. They cook and serve meals, play and help children with homework, interact with guests and provide overnight security. Transportation We plan to use a 15 passenger van to transport our guests between the host congregation and the day center. The network will also use a truck or trailer to carry bedding and personal belongings to the new host congregation. This organization is financed through donations, grants, and fund-raising events. |
