Welcome to Family Promise of Hall County
Family Promise of Hall County is a nonprofit organization that is in the organizational process. Our mission is to help put an end to homelessness one family at a time. We will do this through a network of congregations that host these families directly in their houses of worship, staffed by caring volunteers who have put their faith into action. We plan to accept our first homeless family on May 20, 2012. We will use 4 basic components: Congregations: The hosting of families rotates weekly among a minimum of 13 host congregations. In turn, each congregation provides lodging, three meals, and hospitality 3-4 times a year. Support congregations do not host families but instead assist a host congregation when they host families. There, guests pursue employment, tend pre-school children, shower, and do laundry. The day center provides guests with a mailing address and a base for housing and employment searches. Volunteers Volunteers come from host and support congregations. They cook and serve meals, play and help children with homework, interact with guests and provide overnight security. Transportation We plan to use a 15 passenger van to transport our guests between the host congregation and the day center. The network will also use a truck or trailer to carry bedding and personal belongings to the new host congregation. This organization is financed through donations, grants, and fund-raising events. |
